Why Is It Called Rasp Island?
The small island off Orr’s southern coast appears on harbor charts as “uninhabited island 4,” but ask anyone in the Warehouse District, and they will tell you it’s called Rasp Island. The unofficial name derives from the Blue-Crested Rasps that infest the island. These territorial lizards are deadly and possess a voracious appetite. Growing up to 7′ in length, these dangerous predators have deterred every effort to establish a foothold on the island for settlement or even a base for a naval lookout.
Dangerous, swift currents are another notable deterrent. Many a seasoned sailor has lost their life attempting to navigate the waters around the island, and only the most skilled or foolhardy will attempt to tempt fate by delivering passengers to the island.
